Europe risks losing the AI race through excessive regulation.

Macron said it correctly: “We are over-regulating and underinvesting. If we continue with our usual agenda over the next 2 to 3 years, we will be out of the market.” I agree with him. Europe talks about regulating AI but misses the balance between fostering innovation and upholding societal values. Regulation doesn’t happen in a vacuum. If we require the impossible or over-regulate while underinvesting, we risk stifling AI development entirely and losing competitiveness in the global market.
